I fully agree with previous comments about ease of assembly but this is not the major problem.
When you use anything to cut something else you make sure the tool you use has a very sharp edge whether it be a knife, a saw or the cutting edge on a log splitter; The cutting edge on this splitter is not at all sharp and in fact is a rounded edge of steel that does not cut at all. The end result is that when it does split a log it does it purely though the 4 ton force and not by the blade at all. This results in a very sudden split which ejects th split logs from the back with some force.
Not really worth buying with such a blunt cutting edge.

The splitter does exactly what it should & the safety cage is a great addition but adds to the frustration of assembly.
The instructions are hard to follow, the contents list does not match the contents & the diagram does not match the contents or text! Numbers are missing and the diagram is so small its pretty much useless. I gave up in the end & figured it out logically but still have a 'spare' screw which may be an error in packing as it isn't accounted for in any of the instructions.
Plastic fittings have already snapped but I have replaced them with bolts.

Bought this for my husband who had a manual foot press splitter - but poorly knees!! It splits logs brilliantly and will be a great bonus going forward.
The assembly instructions however were woeful - and indeed the labelled diagram had numbers missing. Also the plastic were difficult to insert and not very robust - my husband replaced them with metal bolts.
However, despite that it is a great product.
